I Love the feel of these strings
I never imagined what difference a set of really good flatwound strings could make, but the flawless slides and reduction of finger noise now has me playing my bass more than double the time I was playing in the past and incorporating much more portamento/slides in my music writing. I have not used flatwound strings on bass until now so I couldn't honestly make a brand comparrison, but if you are still playing on standard roundwound or still experiencing some brushing finger sounds, you really should give these a try.
I've used Earnie Ball strings exclusively for the last 25 years and can say they've always been very reliable, hold their tone well and I know to expect only the best when I buy them. Personally, I'd prefer a lighter, more flexible feel than this particular item (in regard to the custom guage package), but that's just a matter of guage preference and I haven't found a pair of flatwound bass "lights" or "ultra-lights" just yet. I like that wide range of tremolo...

First time flatwound..
I bought these strings to test out flats because i have never used them before...
Wow they are amazing... Extra light great tone and everything..
I am mostly a pick player and these strings sound amazing with a pick...
Highly reccomend these if you have never tried flats before.... they are light and not as thick as normal strings too..
Overall great strings
Flat Wounds for almost 20 years now!
Ernie Ball Flat Wounds are my all time favorite electric bass string.
as an upright bassist, when I pick up the Electric bass, I need that same flat wound feel.
and these strings ring true on every gig.
I've been playing Ernie Ball for almost 20 years... I've played hundreds and hundreds of gigs on these,
recorded multiple albums and countless bass tracks. Ernie Ball Flat Wounds are the only strings I perform on.
Also...
As a string teacher, I've always met students with a similar problem... "what kind of strings should I get?"
Students always ask this same question... I tell them what I play... and then tell them "hey, you know what... these may not be the strings for you... but you need to figure out what you like...and the quicker the better.... and stick with the ones you can count on!"
These flat wounds are for me, and I'm happy I took the time to figure it out.
Thank you Ernie Ball.
Sincerely,
Ben...
