L.R. Baggs i ram
I added this to my Taylor 514. Installation and instructions were easy and well documented. As for performance and sound, A+.
If you have a straight acoustic that you want to amplify, there are dozens of options regarding placement, sound, etc. after extensive research, I hose this system, and am more than pleased, it's superb.
Will use this product again, if needed.
A+

Truest acoustic sound I've ever heard from a pickup
About 14 years ago, I had a Fishman Natural installed in my ancient Takamine and was hooked. It was an all-laminate, beat-up piece of junk, but when I played it through a system, it came to life. It sounded so much better than my far-superior, all-solid wood Takamine with the built-in proprietary electronics. It sounded very much like the guitar was simply miked.
Flash-forward to 2002, and I bought a Larrivee, and needed to install something in it. I picked out the I-Beam Active on the advice of a friend. The high-end Takamine was long-gone, but I still had the beater. Well, there was no contest between the I-Beam and the Fishman Natural. The I-Beam was absolutely unbelievable. I have never, after playing and hearing hundreds of different setups, heard an acoustic-electric that sounded as true to the guitar as the I-Beam did in my Larrivee.
Sadly, the I-Beam gave out in 2009. I don't know if it was a fragile unit or what. I suspect that it may have had...
Great product!
For starters, I had the LR Baggs iBeam installed in an acoustic Seagull guitar.
At first, I was a little skeptical of buying this pickup. Fortunately there were just enough positive reviews for me to decide to buy it. I am glad I did. The installation was very easy. About an hour max if the professional installer knows what he is doing. The sound quality is great. I haven't experienced any feedback (as some reviews said there was a little) and I play in a worship band with a backup guitarist, drummer, bassist, keyboard, three singers etc. The whole nine yards. I love this pickup and I have seriously considered replacing the pickup in my Dean with the LR Baggs iBeam as well. I have received so many positive comments about how much better I sound when I play, and I have only had it installed about a month! Of course, it's not me that sounds better; it's the guitar.
