D'Addario ECB82 Chromes Bass Guitar Strings, Medium, 50-105, Long Scale
D'Addario Chromes Flatwound Bass strings are famed for their smooth feel and warm, mellow tone. The strings are wound using an outer flattened, "ribbon" wire which is then polished to a smooth finish. Chromes deliver a deep, rich low end tone that's ideal for jazz and R&B, but also has applications in contemporary pop music.
With so many on offer these days, it is great to have a name you can trust. This item is certainly that and will be a perfect buy. The distributor have added some great touches and this equals great value.

Chromes bring the thunder.
With other flatwound bass strings I sometimes got lost in the storm. When I bring the thunder with Chromes I AM the storm.
I use these professionally and regularly on a reissue Fender '51 Precision and they give me the meatiest bass tone I have ever had.
They're silky smooth to the touch, as tense as rebar, and full of punchy presence. They are also long lasting and take a while to get to the point that tuning is a problem. I sweat all over these strings and it takes many months before I have any tuning issues or feel the wrapping on the E string start to lose the smoothness it has as when new. Very cost effective!

I wish D'Addario would make these in the Super Long scale, like the lighter guage Chromes, because ECB82's will not acommodate the string-thru-body option on the 51 P. The silk wrapping at the end of the strings will not clear the nut and has about a quarter inch overhang. If you have string-thru, consider the ECB81 Super Long Scale. I would switch but...

Great Bass String
These bass strings are wonderful. They feel like candy under your fingers. They sound great and are very playable once you get used to them. If this is your first pair of flat wounds, they may feel slow at first, however, once you get used to them, they are very fast and comfortable. You can not slap with flats, but if you do not slap much anyway, you will be just fine. I highly recommend these strings for any bass player.
D'Addario Medium Chromes ECB82
Put them on my 1974 Fender Jazz Bass. I've been using round wounds for a couple years and wanted a more mellow tone and more comfortable feel. These delivered the goods. The E-string could use a bit more brightness but I'll take it. Overall a great deal.
